Earlier this year we released 6 updates for our Commusoft Android and iOS apps. Well here we are yet again with another 6! This time our mobile updates are related to parts, appliances, and attached files - all designed to improve the user experience.
As always, remember that it's important for users to update their app via the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, to make sure they have the latest (and best!) version installed.

Mark all parts as installed
From the parts screen you can now mark all parts as installed with one tap of a button. You will notice a new button in the top right of two ticks overlaid - this is the mass install button. Tapping it will install all parts that are available for the job. If a part is marked as returned, on order, or requested then it won't be installed - only available parts can be installed.
This is really helpful for jobs with lots of parts. No need to mark each one as installed individually - one tap and you're done. Remember to mark any parts you didn't use as returned first. This also works if you've completed a job or left site and realised you have forgotten to mark the parts as installed.
From a customer or job record you can now search for appliances. This makes it easier to manage properties with many appliances. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of fire alarms, extinguishers, sensors, sprinklers etc. simply search to find exactly what you are looking for.
You can search by appliance type, make, model, and fuel type. Please note that appliances do not show in the search results from the main search function (located in the menu) - you can search for appliances from the appliances section of a job or customer record.
Pinch and zoom for photos
You can now zoom in on attached photos on Android.
This makes it easier to see small details that you want to get a better look at. Simply pinch the screen, like you would in the photo gallery to zoom in and out.
Whilst we're talking about attached photos, don't forget you can draw over them too to highlight particular things. This is really useful if it's not obvious what you are trying to show in an image - you can simply draw a circle around the important part.
Mark multiple parts as installed
On the parts screen, you can now mark multiple parts as installed in one action. Simply hold down on a part to start multi-selecting - a blue tick will show on the right once the part is selected. You can them tap any other parts you wish to mark as installed. Once you have selected all the parts required, tap the 3 dots to choose what action you wish to take - you can either mark parts as installed or for return. This is helpful for jobs with a large number of parts by saving the time spent marking each as installed.
Similarly, once parts have been installed, you can mark them as uninstalled in the same way if needed.
You cannot select parts that are on order, returned, or requested to be marked as installed - only available parts.

See attached files from a converted estimate
When you complete an estimate and it is accepted by the customer, you can immediately create a job from the estimate record. However, what happens to those attached files saved to the estimate? We've added an easy way for the engineer to access previously attached files (which may still be relevant to the job) from the job screen. If a job has been created from an estimate, you will now see a 'Estimate attached files' section at the bottom - simply click the item to view it.
This means you don't need to find the estimate record to check the site photos - you should be able to access everything you need from just the new job record.
